Capitol Hill Village

We are excited to be participating as a team in the Lupus Research Alliance Washington DC Walk with Us to Cure Lupus on October 21st, 2017!

Capitol Hill Village members will meet up at the main entry to the National Museum of African Americal History and Culture (address 1400 Constitution Ave NW) at 9 am, and head over to registration (15th and Independence NW) at 9:15 AM. The walk starts at 10 AM. Bring appropriate walking gear and outdoor clothing, depending on the elements. We also recommend bringing a water bottle, sunblock, and a snack. Wear purple to show your support!

Each year, the Lupus Research Alliance coordinates this powerful fundraising program where friends, family and colleagues come together in cities across the country for a 5K walkathon to raise awareness and funds for lupus research.

Lupus is a painful autoimmune disease that affects millions of Americans and even more worldwide. This disease is more common than leukemia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis. Lupus can cause a plethora of ailments including kidney failure, heart disease, high blood pressure, vascular problems, and even premature death. Unfortunately, lupus presents many complexities and barriers that have prevented scientists from finding a cure. Because no two cases are exactly the same and its symptoms mimic those of other diseases, the exact cause of lupus is unknown and it is very difficult to diagnose.

But, there is hope. The Lupus Research Alliance leads the quest to free the world of this autoimmune disease through the power of scientific research. The Lupus Research Alliance has commited $200 million to lupus research, making it the largest private funder of lupus research in the world.

We couldn't be more proud to be supporting this amazing organization and participating as a team in the Lupus Research Alliance Walk with Us program. If you're interested in joining the quest to find a cure, we'd love to have you on our team! But if you're unable to attend the Walk on October 21st, you can still have an impact on this important cause by making a charitable contribution. To help our team reach our fundraising goal, simply click below to make your donation.

Whatever you give will go a long way! Since the Lupus Research Alliance Board of Directors covers all fundraising and admnistrative costs, 100% of your gift will be used to support the most innovative and promising lupus research programs.

Thank you! Your support will bring hope to the millions of people worldwide who are suffering from lupus.
