As of December 31, 2017, The Lupus Research Alliance has unrestricted financial reserves of approximately $41.1 million or about 1.5 times its most recent annual expenses, which totaled approximately $28 million. The majority of the $41.1 million is being held in a board designated endowment in order for the organization to have funds available for special research projects and is designated solely for lupus research.
